How do I book a wedding? How far in advance do I need to book with you?
Booking a wedding with White Haute Photography is easy! Pick your package (or we’ll create a unique package to fit your needs), ensure we’re available for your wedding date, sign your contract electronically and pay the retainer, which secures your date. We can book weddings a week in advance, or two years in advance, it doesn’t matter. As long as we have availability, we can be your wedding photographer. As we normally book weddings about 12 months in advance, the sooner you contact us about your wedding, the more likely we’ll have your date available. We also like to find time to meet you first and ensure that it's a good match, as we want you to be comfortable with your photographer.
Tell me about your photographic style, and your approach to wedding photography
We are lovers of natural light, so you won’t find us lugging around bulky lighting kits, trying to overpower the sun. Whenever possible, you’ll find us taking advantage of the golden hour of sunset, where the light is soft. Our posing style is to do as little as possible. We don’t want you feeling, and looking, stiff and uncomfortable. We’ll give you enough direction so you don’t feel like Ricky Bobby, not sure what to do with your hands. But we want to evoke real emotion, real intimacy, real laughter, real smiles. We may ask you to whisper something dirty in your significant other’s ear, or do the biggest fake belly laugh you can muster, as these are always followed immediately by real laughs. We want you to feel at ease in front of the camera.
Do you shoot RAW images, and do we get to have those unedited files?
Yes, we exclusively shoot in the RAW format, as it gives us the greatest image quality with which to edit your final images. After we cull through these RAW images, we will provide you with a folder of high-resolution JPG files. Unfortunately we do not provide clients with the RAW files, as they are not edited to our stringent specifications. Along with your private online gallery access, you will receive a copyright release, giving you full rights to make reprints and enlargements of any files.
Do you travel for family photos, engagement or bridal sessions or senior pictures?
Yes, we’ll travel anywhere for any session. We’ve met a wedding couple in Seattle for their engagement session, driven to Las Vegas and back in the same day, whatever it takes to get the best images! We encourage our wedding clients to find a really cool location for their engagement photos or bridal session, because unlike the wedding day, you’re not constrained by time or location.
We've never done professional photos before. Can you help us prepare, choose outfits and choose a location?
Of course, we’re here to make it as easy and uncomplicated as possible. We have curated Pinterest boards to help you with outfit ideas, and we love to collaborate on finding the perfect location for your photo session. We’ll get to know your hobbies, your passions, and match those to the right backdrop. We also encourage you to bring more outfits and accessories than you’ll have time for, as it will give us the opportunity to help you pick the right combinations on-site.
Are you available for destination weddings? Elopements? How much is the travel fee?
We are available to travel anywhere in the world to be your wedding photographer, and we would be honored to capture such a special day. Travel fees and requirements depend on the destination, and the type of wedding. While domestic destination weddings may only require a car drive, other locations abroad will require round trip air travel. While we have photographed weddings in some exotic locations, we certainly have a “bucket list” of worldwide locations, and we’re happy to discuss a discounted rate for your wedding in one of these places!
Do you have preferred vendors that you like to work with, or can you recommend vendors to us?
As professional wedding photographers in California and Utah for over 15 years, we have been lucky to work with some of the best wedding vendors in the industry. From wedding planners to caterers, DJs to makeup artists, we can help you find the ideal wedding team to make your entire day as perfect as possible!
Do you offer wedding photography discounts in the winter, or for the military?
While winter is definitely a slower time for weddings here in Utah, we don’t offer any specific time-of-year discounts. We do offer discounts for our honored military service men and women, so please be sure to let us know if you are active duty or retired. We are also able to customize any of our wedding photography packages to fit your budget and needs.
Do you offer discounts to past clients?
Yes we do! Since many of our wedding clients have become life-long family photography clients after having kids, we want to watch your family grow and grow. So we always offer a discount for maternity and family photography sessions for our former wedding couples!
Do you charge extra for XL or XXL-sized families?
We often get requests for family photography sessions where the entire extended family is together, including grandparents, siblings, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren or pets. Luckily, while some photographers limit their pricing to a certain number of subjects, we do not. Whether you’re a family of 3, or 30, we charge the same rate for family photography. Our sessions are about an hour in length, so if we can get all the of the different combinations and groupings photographed within that timeframe, there is no “upcharge”.
